Measles virus vs SARS-CoV-2

Image
Reading various articles about Measles virus and Covid-19 virus i.e. SARS-CoV-2, various similarities can be seen. The key point is not only its internal structure but its outer envelope, especially the entry points that attach to human cells. I have tried to summarize the comparison here: Measles Virus Image : It bears striking similarities in envelope and shape to SARS-CoV-2 image. Further images can be seen at  CDC website . Structure : It  is a single-stranded, negative-sense, enveloped, non-segmented RNA virus of the genus Morbillivirus within the family Paramyxoviridae (or (-)ssRNA virus ) . Envelope : The measles virus has two envelope glycoproteins, responsible for host cell binding and invasion, on the viral surface – hemagglutinin (H) and membrane fusion protein (F).  Three receptors in the human cells, for the H protein are: complement regulatory molecule CD46,  the signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM or  CD150) and  the cell adhesion molec

Coronavirus Vaccine - Personal Thoughts

In the last blog , I had analyzed the widely available data and accepted facts about Covid-19 disease and possible immunity against it in children and adults till 39 years of age. Now there are two possibilities:  1. Either the coincidental vaccination for another disease has worked against the SARS-CoV-2 disease. 2. Or the kidneys and internal constitution against Covid-19 disease is so strong till 39 years that most infected patients get better with treatment. Since kidneys are stronger in young adults and work efficiently so the treatment works and fatality rates are lower. But what if coincidental vaccination theory is logical and is assumed to be true? Then what is the next logical inference? It does explain the many asymptomatic individuals. In fact more than 50% infected individuals are silent carriers and get better without any drugs or treatment. So their body has antibodies to fight the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus does not affect the lungs and stays in upper respira

Coronavirus - Personal Thoughts

The whole world has been badly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, specifically the disease COVID-19, due to the coronavirus called  SARS-CoV-2. Since it has affected almost everybody in the world at personal level, so it is natural to have some personal thoughts about the effect of this virus. The most positive reason is to find the cure or prevent the virus from affecting anyone and causing disease and death.  And there are interesting facts available on the internet which makes you think about its unique statistics, especially the impact on young adults and children. The most striking part is the age of coronavirus deaths. There is a marked consistency across different countries about low death rates for infected cases of children and young people. Now this is a new coronavirus and is aptly named novel Coronavirus disease of 2019. i.e. nCovid-19. So how is it possible that infants and young have low death rate for infected cases? Because naturally it makes one to concl
